The scientific and ethical basis for continuing this practice has collapsed. In December 2025, the Williams, Kroes & Munro (2000) glyphosate safety review was retracted. In March 2026, the Seattle Statement finalized at the Seattle Glyphosate Symposium said the evidence of harm from glyphosate and glyphosate-based herbicides is now so strong that no additional delay in regulation can be justified. The harms identified now extend beyond cancer to endocrine, neurological, reproductive, kidney, liver, and metabolic harms, as well as genetic damage, oxidative stress, and hormonal disruption. In 1999, Canada’s own Senate said that herbicide and chemical pesticide use in the boreal forest should be phased out as soon as possible. Québec then showed that this was entirely achievable, ending chemical herbicide spraying in its Crown forests in 2001. At this point, no further herbicide spraying should move forward in Alberta’s public forests. The science has changed, the old safety claims have collapsed, and the ethical basis for continuing this practice is gone. It should end now. I am asking you two direct questions: 1. Will you publicly support an immediate end to herbicide spraying in Alberta’s public forests? 2. Will you press your party and government to ensure this spraying does not move forward? I look forward to your answer. Sincerely,Submit Email - Please double-check your information before submitting to ensure your email is validPlease do not fill in this field.
